Regarding staging a 10k road race, this will be discussed under T & F Championships updates.
Secretary: Mike Williams
Six counties have replied with regard to the U17 Inter Counties Match that Hampshire are hosting on the 20 July, still waiting to hear back from Kent.
Permits have been applied for all of the Track and Field events being staged by the county.
Tim Wilding has unfortunately had to resign as U17 W, T & F Team Manager, this post at present is vacant.

Finance and Sustainability Sub Group: Michael Coker
The Finance & Sustainability Sub Group met on 4 December 2013. A note has been drafted with details to Clubs on benefits accruing from Hampshire Athletics affiliation (including competition and Officials provision, coaching bursaries, web site/results service and much else). Various grant monies have now been received for Athletics Development work in Hampshire & IOW. Saucony Year 3 funding is effective from 1 February 2014.
Cross Country Championships: Pam Rogers
4 January 2014 - Fleming Park (former golf course) Eastleigh
Well, against all the odds the Championships took place on Saturday 4th January. There were problems galore that had to be dealt with, banks collapsing on the course, the river flooding the Start/Finish area, course builders incapacitated in hospital and abroad, caravans stranded on the Gosport peninsula, access roads to the venue flooding, ferries being cancelled from the Isle of Wight, printers not opening after the Christmas break until January 6th, T-shirt printer being unwell in Birmingham to name but a few. But we had athletes, more than we had hoped for, we had officials, disgruntled because I had to commandeer their tent for Registration and Presentation, we had marshals, still able to smile after standing in the cold and rain all day, we had a course, we had toilets, we had Richard tucked in with the sandwiches to do the results, we had a PA system, tied into the roof of a Land Rover, we had First Aiders on foot because the ambulance would not have coped with the terrain, we had T-shirts, after a mammoth drive south from Birmingham and we had one of the most memorable Championships ever!
I have been pleased to see the number of emails sent from individuals and clubs praising the organisers and saying what a fantastic event it was. There are over 6,000 images on the web-site showing runners on the course sloshing through ankle deep water. As I said to some people, if you can run here, you can run anywhere.
It goes without saying that none of the day would have happened without the hard work, effort and determination to go ahead of the band of people that I thank every year, Richard, Colin, Christine and Jon and Malcolm from Eastleigh and Southampton. This year, Ken Littlejohns and Malcolm Rogers were especially important checking that the course was safe enough to run on, and suggesting alternatives when floods and collapses threatened it, and Kath Bailey too, for her suggestions for alternative loops. All these people focussed on the nitty gritty while I worried about parking, toilets, sandwiches, flour for the Start line and where to put the computer!

After a long discussion and as there have been no offers for a Race Director or a Marshals Coordinator, the 10k race has unfortunately had to be cancelled. It was decided to stage instead 3k or 5k races, there was also a suggestion to hold mile races as well. This to be discussed further and after consultation with the Technical Officials Secretaries, a new timetable for the 5 May will be published. However Colin Goater and Richard Pearson will meet to discuss to see if a 10k race could be staged at a different venue, but would need to seek clubs' support if this was going to take place later in the year.
A summary report was received from the technical officials for the 2013 championships with regards to the Mountbatten Centre, a meeting has been arranged with Portsmouth City Council to discuss all aspects of this report. Updates will be made available at the next meeting.
With regards to the T & F championships on the 24 and 25 May, Mike Barratt has kindly agreed to be at the MBC track, for the siting of the temporary timekeepers stand, and cabin for the photo finish team.

Joint Technical Officials Report: Eileen & Terry Williams
We met with Michael Coker on Tuesday last to discuss the 2014 programme and just need to finalise a few details for Hampshire Athletics and Hampshire Schools meetings which should be solved within the next week. At that point we will be circulating availability requests to all our Officials so that we have full details ready for the Officials Committee Meeting on 20th March. There is one clash again in that the SEAA Senior Championships are on the same day as the HSAA Championships which could affect Officials availability. We have already emailed all those who could be involved so that they are aware of this potential clash. We have booked Photo Finish and also two EDM machines for the County T & F Championships and also have 8 additional two way radios thanks to Richard Dean.
Our annual Officials 'Get Together' has been arranged for 28th March at Basingstoke Hockey Club and we are very fortunate to have Cherry Alexander MBE from British Athletics as our Guest Speaker. Once again our thanks to Michael for arranging the support of Sport Hampshire and Isle of Wight for this evening which means that there will be no cost to Hampshire Athletics.
We emailed out our bi-annual Newsletter in November which included one copy sent to Paul Slater in Malta. Unfortunately Paul was diagnosed with throat cancer but is now on the road to recovery and we are sure you will all join us in wishing him a speedy recovery. Next edition will go out in April.
Our thanks also go to Richard Dean who has been working hard to establish an Officials web page and this went live on 8th January with the Cross Country Appointments on there already including HSAA. Next step is to get a link onto the website for HSAA for the benefit athletes, parents and Coaches.
Sportshall: Michael Coker
The third 2013-14 Hampshire Sportshall League Match takes place at Mountbatten Centre on 26 January 2014 with Match 4 at Fleming Park on 16 March 2014. Over 180 athletes participated in each of Matches 1 & 2.
The 2014 Regional competitions are 12 January (U11s) and 23 February (U15/U13) at Burgess Hill. Saucony are supplying T-shirts for Hampshire athletes in the absence in 2014 of Aviva sponsorship.
There is no date yet for the 2014 UK Sports Hall Final.
There will be a Schools Disability Athletics Sports Hall Festival at the Mountbatten Centre on 29 January 2014.

The 2nd 2013-14 Hampshire & IOW Coaching Day ran successfully at Andover on 7 December 2013 with a strength & conditioning theme. There was excellent feedback from the 43 athletes and 18 coaches attending. The 3rd Coaching Day is at Winchester on 22nd March 2014, with a pre 2014 Track & Field season theme.
The 2014 Saucony Hampshire Grand Prix events are provisionally planned for Wednesday 16th July - Basingstoke and 27th August - Southampton, hopefully incorporating the Doreen Old Open. Both dates subject to final confirmation.
The Hampshire Officials Evening will be held at the Maidenwell Pavilion, Basingstoke on Friday 28 March 2014.
Hampshire & IOW Sports Awards nominations close on 31 January 2014. Few nominations have been received to date. MC will recommend a number of potential candidates.
Hampshire is hosting 2 Coaching courses at the Mountbatten Centre in the near future with coaching bursaries available to coaches attending from Hampshire Athletics affiliated Clubs:- Leadership in Running Fitness, 19 January 2014 (£90 bursary); Coaching Assistant, 8-9 February 2014 (£25 bursary).
Hampshire Athletics should shortly receive funding from the Sport England Satellite Clubs programme, where 'satellite' Clubs linked to affiliated Athletics Clubs are set up at School sites. Likely new activity in Alton and Gosport, with a new link likely in the New Forest.
377 new runners had registered on the Run England portal at 31.12.2013, with the aim to work towards 1100 by July 2014.

It was agreed that the county pay a contribution for the replacement of Jon Osman's mobile phone, damaged when he was out on one of his numerous visits on the XC Course at Eastleigh, to ensure the championships could go ahead! Richard Dean will liaise with Colin Goater to action.
