Coutances - No reply regarding annual trip to Coutances. Graham contacted clubs in Coutances, they are keen to send a small contingent over to run the Junior/5K Great South Runs. They will contact Graeme regarding ages, numbers etc. County to fund refreshments when athletes disembark from the ferry. Graeme expressed concern over the visit to Coutances, a female volunteer is needed to accompany the group, otherwise the trip cannot take place.
Dave Vosser is happy to manage the teams at the Southern Inter Counties cross country on 14th December.
Dave Churcher reported on the two senior inter counties matches. A depleted women's team at Abingdon still managed to finish in 5th place. Notable performances from Mandy Gault (2nd in 400mH), and Amy Bream who won the 3K steeplechase, Amy went directly from the steeplechase to run a leg of the 4 x 400 relay. Dave thanked Mike Williams for looking after the team on the day. The CUA at Bedford saw another depleted women team, but still managed to finish 9th out of 38 counties. The combined men and women's team finished 9th overall. Notable performances from Ceri Mitchell, 4th in 1500m, Sophie Merritt, 4th in shot put and 6th in discus, Keira Barker who won the high jump and Amy Bream 6th in the 3K steeplechase. A poorly attended meeting from all counties.
Jamie Broadey volunteered to look after the senior men's team at Bedford and did a very good job.
Joint Technical Officials Report: Eileen & Terry Williams
Following our report in July we have been in correspondence with the Secretary of City of Portsmouth AC re the Level 1 Course in April and apparently the reason they held this Course was that the delegates did not want to travel to Winchester to Basingstoke to take the Level 2 Courses!
We have pointed out that, under the UKA Health & Safety regulations, Officials are not permitted to Officiate on Long Throws in front of the thrower unless they have attained Level 2 County and have undertaken a UKA Health & Safety Course nor can they act as Field Referee unless they are fully qualified with Health & Safety qualification.
We have arranged Level 2 Course for all Disciplines at The Sports Academy, Andover on 6th October and have circulated all Clubs and also those who had indicated interest some from the stand we had at the County Championships and others from different contacts. At present we have 12 names registered at England Athletics and are hoping for more. Clubs are asked to act positively to encourage potential Officials to attend or, bearing in mind the comments above, there will be difficulties in the future in running certain events. We are prepared to run further Courses for Clubs if they can find suitable venues at an acceptable cost to England Athletics and with appropriate numbers.
We will be asking for Officials Cross Country availabilities in the next few days and the Technical Sub-committee will meet on 31st October to finalise these Appointments.
Road Running Report: Colin Goater
There was a meeting last Monday which was well attended. The first HRRL match was held at Overton. All fixtures of the league were down in numbers, although the Overton entry was up by almost 100, possibly due to them appointing a Social Media secretary, something other clubs should consider.

- 24 November 2013 - Andover Leisure Centre
