Alton Sports Hampshire Cross Country League
We are pleased to have received support and sponsorship for the Hampshire Cross Country League for two seasons from Alton Sports.
They will be attending most of our fixtures, offering an excellent range of running clothing and accessories.
The league season runs from October to February and comprises five races in Hampshire and neighbouring counties.
Many thanks to Reading AC for hosting the re-scheduled fixture at Prospect Park yesterday. Although fields were slightly down, we had some good competition and Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 prizes were awarded at the venue. A reminder please that Under 20, Senior and Veteran prizes will be presented at the League AGM in June.
Also, nominations for this year's Popplewell Trophy recipient need to be submitted to the League Chairman for consideration, and suggestions for a new League Chairman, as Ken Littlejohns is stepping down at this year's AGM.
Women's Results Secretary
Owing to a points miscalculation for the Under 13 Girls' team competition, third-place medals were mistakenly awarded to Reading AC on Saturday. Additional medals will be purchased for the rightful winners, Basingstoke & Mid Hants. We apologise for the error.
Awards for the following will be presented at the League's AGM to be held at the Winchester Sports Centre at 20:30 on Friday 23rd June 2017:
- Under 20 / Senior / Vet Women
- Under 20 / Senior / Vet Men
Registration of athletes
A reminder please that lists of competing athletes are needed for our records. We need to have correctly spelt names, dates of birth, age categories the athlete is running in and EA Registration Numbers for everyone intending to run for your club.
Also to remind clubs that they need to be affiliated to England Athletics before they can join the League.
On a personal note, a reminder about the Veteran age categories that we use:
- Men: M40, M50, M60 and M70
- Women: W35, W45, W55 and W65
In other words, ten year categories from when the athlete becomes a Veteran.
