UK CAU Inter-Counties Cross-Country Championships 2013
9 March at Cofton Park, Birmingham
In all three age groups the teams had been weakened by injury and illness:
- Hampshire Under 13 Champion Archie Ives was not able to run due to illness.
- Richard Allen, also Hampshire Champion in the Under 17 age group was out due to injury.
- George Butler (Under 15), who won the 2011 Under 13 Inter-Counties, was also ruled out by injury.
Despite these setbacks the teams performed well in atrocious conditions with deep mud and parts of the course almost under water.
Under 13 Boys
Alex Rowe from Guernsey ran well against strong opposition to finish in 20th position. The next Hampshire boy was Robbie Coupland in a commendable 28th place; Jack Leerson making the journey from Jersey finished 32nd, and clubmate Jack Lutz completed the team in 87th position.
The team finished in 8th position with 167 points, out of 40 counties.
Under 15 Boys
The Under 15 Boys' team collect their silver medals: Jack Boswell, Mahamed Mahamed, Ethan Bevis and Daniel Ray
The best result of the day for the Hampshire Junior boys, the Under 15's taking the 2nd place team position and Silver Medals.
Hampshire Champion Mahamed Mahamed had a fine run to finish in 10th position. Ethan Bevis looked good and was not far behind in 12th place. The 3rd scorer was Daniel Ray in 27th place with Jack Boswell completing the team with a good run to take 34th place and ensure the teams Silver Medal position with 83 points.
Under 17 Men
In a very competitive race Stephen Simpson ran well to take 27th position. Brendan O'Connor worked hard to achieve 39th place. Daniel Robinson was 47th with Oliver Butler completing the team in 52nd place.
This was a good team performance to finish 6th county with 165 points.
Under 13 Girls
The Under 13 Girls' race gets under way, with Josie Czura, Florence Gothard, Elizabeth Hedley and Lizzie Payne running for Hampshire
The Under 13 girls secured an excellent 3rd team in this highly competitive category. In a large field of over 300 starters Josie Czura got right in the mix with a very pleasing 5th place supported by Elizabeth Hedley who came through for 15th. Stacey Burrows had one of her best races to date in 24th and Lizzie Payne completed the scorers in 52nd.

Under 15 Girls
Daisy D'Santos produced her race of the season coming through for 4th spot and leading the girls to another team medal. Previous U13 double winner Katie Rowe ran well for 10th in her first year as an Under 15 with Lucy Wildash also bottom age only 1 second behind in 11th. Rebekah Pantony closed the team in 79th with Hampshire finishing in Bronze medal position 2 points ahead of Leicestershire.

Under 17 Women

Carla Plowden-Roberts was first counter for Hampshire in 74th with the team packing closely in behind her with Gemma Wildash 83rd, Lauren McCarthy 85th and one of the best performances coming from Frances Arnott in 94th who stepped in just a few days before the event.
