UK CAU Inter-Counties Cross-Country Championships 2013
9 March at Cofton Park, Birmingham
Fitting Finale for Sheena
Sheena Fitzmaurice's 33-year career as Hampshire Women's Team Manager came to the best possible conclusion with double success at the UK CAU Inter-Counties Cross-Country Championships.
As well as Louise Damen's individual victory, following her win at the English Nationals a fortnight previously, the Senior Women's team, comprising Louise, Steph Twell, Louise Perrio, Amy Campbell, Sarah Mercier and Kathryn Bailey, edged a narrow win by just three points from Surrey.
Sheena was delighted to receive the winning manager's team trophy and was presented with a bottle of champagne and farewell card signed by members of the Hampshire party.

Earlier, announcing her decision to retire from managing the Hampshire Women's Team, Sheena had said "I feel that the time is now right, as I would like a younger person to take over the position.
"It has given me tremendous pleasure, being involved with countless Hampshire athletes and teams, with very successful and exciting results, making some great friendships over the years, which I shall always value."
Sheena feels that Kath Bailey, who has agreed to take over as Women's Team Manager, is in a similar position to herself when she started team management, having already had a successful career as an athlete. "I wish the new Hampshire Senior and Under 20 Women's Cross-Country Team Manager the very best of luck with all the teams in the future."
With such a record, Sheena will indeed be a very difficult act to follow.
