ESAA National Cross-Country Championships 2017
18 March at Norfolk County Showground, Norwich

Hampshire Schools had a successful day at the New Balance ESAA Cross Country Championships.

Zakariya Mahamed won the Intermediate Boys' race, with Lachlan Wellington just four seconds behind in third place. They led the Hampshire and Vectis Intermediate Boys' team to retain the gold medal position for a second succesive year. The Senior Boys' team finished in second position, the Senior Girls were fifth and the Junior Girls seventh. Hampshire and Vectis came third in the Boys' Aggregate Trophy, while the Girls finished in fifth place.

Other notable top-50 results were:

  • Senior Boys - Jack Boswell (10th), Sam Tyas (31st), James Beeks (40th) and Sam Costley (42nd). Sam Maher, representing Channel Islands Schools, finished 21st.
  • Intermediate Boys - Jacob O'Hara (28th), Sam Turner (43rd) and Henry McLuckie (47th)
  • Junior Boys - Matthew Dyer (31st)
  • Senior Girls - Charlotte Dannatt (28th) and Maisie Grice (46th)
  • Intermediate Girls - Ellie Farrow (14th)
  • Junior Girls - Saffron Moore (36th) and Nicole Ainsworth (46th)
