Inter-Counties Road Race
Rochford, Essex - 4 March 2018

Here is a statement from the race organisers:

"With regret we have taken the decision to cancel the Essex 20 due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions. The course currently has deep snow drifts which local farmers are trying to clear but more snow is forecast. Whilst the weather could improve over the weekend we cannot be sure the roads will be clear, and even if most of the snow has gone the course will be completely flooded.

"Obviously, we need to be certain we can hold a safe race which is obviously our priority."

After a 12 year absence the Essex 20 mile road race is returning to Rochford in 2018.

Set to be held on 4 March, it is seven weeks before London and will give an ideal opportunity to "test" how the marathon training is going.

2018 will see the third edition of the Inter-County match where the best endurance runners from Essex, Kent, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Sussex and, from this year, Hampshire battle it out for individual and team honours.
