Aviva Sportshall UK Finals 2010
In the National Sportshall Championships at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on Sunday 18 April, our teams achieved some excellent results. The Under 13 Boys' team finished in third place, the Under 15 Girls finished second in their competition, and Tanisha Clayton tied for first individual athlete. And not to be outdone, the Channel Islands team won the Under 15 Boys' Championships.
The Under 15 Girls were second with 1234 points, behind local champions Birmingham on 1336. Tanisha Clayton (Basingstoke & Mid Hants AC) was the joint individual winner, after winning the Shot and being placed second in the 2-Lap Race and the Standing Long Jump. Laura Seaman also finished equal third in the Speed Bounce.
The Under 13 Boys finished third on 1138 points, behind Avon on 1375 and Birmingham on 1295. Here Kieran Phillips achieved the highest individual position with a second place in the Standling Long Jump.
In the Under 15 Boys' final, it was Channel Islands who finished on top with 1239 points, ahead of Derbyshire (1173) and Durham (1132). Robbie Stenhouse led the way, finishing first in the Speed Bounce and equal third in the 2-Lap Race, while Hugo Barette was second in the Standing Triple Jump.
Dudley Mason (The Mountbatten School), competing as an individual, finished joint second behind Robbie in the Speed Bounce, scoring 87 to Robbie's 88.
