Matters Arising:

No matters arising.

Secretary: Mike Williams

All clubs have been notified that the membership fee to England Athletics will increase from the 1 April 2015, club affiliation will cost 100, and the fee for athletes will be 12. There was a very poor response to the survey circulated with regards to this suggested increase.

Finance and Sustainability Sub Group: Michael Coker

The Finance & Sustainability Sub Group (Mike Barratt, Richard Dean, Barry Kitcher, Michael Coker) met on 9 September 2013. We are currently assembling a 2015-18 Hampshire Athletics Plan covering all branches of the sport for discussions with Saucony, and to assist with grant applications. Generally Hampshire Athletics finances are in good order at present, but there is always the requirement to plan well ahead to ensure the continuation of the future healthy development work in our sport.

U17 Inter Counties Match, 20 July

Thank you again to the Technical Officials who ensured the event was such a success, the feedback we received form the visiting counties was very positive, and they all thanked the team for organising a very enjoyable and well run match.

Cross Country Championships 3 January 2015: Pam Rogers

It was recommended to increase the entry fee to 7, a vote was taken and all agreed to this increase. Pam is in regular contact with Jon Osman and Colin Goater to organise the championships, which will be take place at Fleming Park, Eastleigh. Entry forms will be on the county website by the end of the month, as well as the full details for the day.

Track & Field Championships: Richard Dean, Mike Williams and Christine Weeks

2015 Multi Event Championships, Quad Kids Events, 3000m and Mile Races:
Date agreed - 4 May

2015 Track and Field Championships:
Date agreed - 23 and 24 May

Following the increase in entry figures for all of the championships in 2014, it was decided that unfortunately guest entries will not be accepted in the future. Christine to book the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth for the agreed dates.

With regards to the county staging a 10k race, it was decided that this is not feasible; there are 10k races already being held, and along with the park runs that take place across the county, this race would not attract many entries.

Team Managers:

C.A.U. INTER-COUNTIES Championships - Bedford 23rd/24th August 2014

Cold, dry and blustery conditions greeted the competing Athletes on both days of these Championships, but it didn't stop the very small Hampshire Women's team from giving a good account of themselves.

On the track Natalie Whitty (Guernsey Is) just missed out on the medals in the 800m with a fine 4th place in 2.11.51 - but went one place better in the 1500m with a very determined run to take the Bronze in 4.30.88, with Laura Brenton (Soton) just behind with a good 5th place finish in 4.33.80.

Grace Crumplin (Havant) found herself in a high class 3k Steeplechase, but ran a controlled race finishing 5th in 12.48.31.

In the Field, Shadine Duquemin (CI) held her position throughout, to take Bronze in the Discus with a throw of 50.70m, whilst Victoria Harfield (CoP) coped well with changing wind conditions in the Long Jump to finish a fine 8th position with 5.46m.

(out of the 35 Counties and Regions)

Overall, the Hampshire Ladies finished 8th in the CAU Division 1:

10.Warwickshire 8.0
11.Northern Ireland7.0

David Churcher: Team Manager

Joint Technical Officials Report: Eileen & Terry Williams

Oh well another Track & Field season has come to an end and we have been pleased with the support from our Officials especially the new Officials many of who have now got their Pass/Licences.

One downside of all this affects our young Officials. Whilst we were away on holiday in August UKA issued an edict that those under 16 could not receive a Pass/Licence and this affected some of our youngsters who had already been issued with their documents. They subsequently received a letter from UKA rescinding their Pass/Licence - far from encouraging! There was no reason given and indeed Cofsecs around the Country were not advised of this change. We have been making enquiries regarding the reason and it would appear to be an Insurance problem. Moves are afoot to take action so that these documents can be re-issued with a qualification.

We are holding new Officials Courses in late October, early November at The Sports Academy, Andover and are circulating clubs as soon as we have confirmation from the venue.

Our next Officials committee meeting will be on 23rd October and we have invited David Stenson and his wife so that a presentation can be made in recognition of 40 years as a Starter. We will also be making appointments for the Cross Country season and we will be sending out availability letters next week.

The two Grand Prix's have now been held but we need to resolve a few problems especially on the Field if we are to retain the support of our Officials.

The World Island Games are due to be held in Jersey in 2015 and we are in the middle of sending out invitations to Officials to work at this event.

Road Running: Colin Goater

The races held so far have been successful. Colin also pointed out that competitors who wear headphones can cause problems, especially with regards to their safety, it was advised that a warning should be included on entry forms stating: - for safety reasons the wearing of headphones is not permitted.

Full details for future races are available at:- www.hrrl.org.uk
